Konata Alleyne (born January 24th, 1984), known by his stage name Konata, is a Trinbagonian recording artiste, musician, record producer and entrepreneur. He is the founder of independent entertainment company One Island Music. Konata launched his international career in 2013 with the release of his debut single ‘This Is The Life’. (Release date 30th July 2013).
Born in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, Konata began his musical journey at an early age performing as a trumpet player as part of the National Youth Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago and the Queen’s Royal College Concert Band. He eventually joined the calypso stage band Caution, adding backup vocalist and musical arranger to his portfolio.
After a brief stint as a Physics major at the University of the West Indies, Konata moved to the United Kingdom to follow his passion for music.
Taking a break from performing, and with an aim of starting his own record label, Konata attained a degree in Arts Management from London South Bank University (LSBU). He then went on to study Audio Engineering at the world-renowned School of Audio Engineering London (SAE London).
During this time and for the next four years following his graduation from LSBU, Konata worked as an event manager and DJ/MC. He worked with some of London’s top venues including HMV Hammersmith and Alexandra Palace, and media outlets such as BBC 1xtra and MTV base.
In 2010, having gathered a wealth of industry knowledge, Konata moved to re-launch his stage career.
He honed his performing, production and songwriting skills while touring the UK, Europe and Trinidad. He produced several singles and music videos specifically targeting the UK Caribbean market.
In 2013, Konata established One Island Music, an entertainment company where he is also signed as the lead artiste. It is against this backdrop that he officially launched his international career with the release of his debut single ‘This Is The Life’. (Release date 30th July 2013).
